Autodesk University classes by Jimmy Bergmark
- 2005 - Multidiscipline CAD Usage at an EPC Company PD12-1.pdf and PD13-1.ppt
This case study will discuss CAD usage at Pharmadule Emtunga. They are aiming for project execution using a mix of CAD applications that best suit their needs. AutoCAD, Autodesk Architectural Desktop, PDMS, third-party applications as well as in-house-developed tools are used. An engineering database application is a hub for the information flow. EDM and ERP are also deployed. A data-centric P&ID application is on its way. - 2005 - Plant Design Tips and Tricks PD13-1.pdf
This session is a generic tips and tricks class that focuses on how to use AutoCAD features for plant
design. Topics covered will be how new features in AutoCAD 2006, such as Dynamic Blocks, Block attribute extraction, and Tables can be used for creating schematics and isometrics, making calculations, and Bill of Materials. The class leader is the CAD manager at an EPC company with a
focus on Plant Design. Learn from his experience, increase your productivity, and learn to have a lot
of fun using AutoCAD as well - 2011 - Autodesk® Network License Manager
This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to manage network licenses. You will learn the steps required to install and configure Autodesk Network License Manager and use the Options file to manage group license permissions. We will also cover command-line tools, how to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, optimization, limit borrowing, and upgrade licenses. You will learn how to list current users and create usage reports. This class will benefit everyone new to network licenses and those that want to learn more.
Freeware for AutoCAD
- See some freeware from us here.
- RemIcons.lsp - Removes the icons Buzzsaw, RedSpark, Point A and FTP in Open dialog box. Or download the following files that can be run without AutoCAD running: remicons.vbs and addicons.vbs. Now for AutoCAD 2002 LT. Download the following files: remiconsLT.vbs or for only RedSpark remRedSparkLT.vbs
Other DWG CAD based applications
There are a lot of applications that either only use DWG as their file format or that can read and write to DWG in various ways. They are often referred as "AutoCAD clones" even though some have evolved to be much more than copycats.
Bricsys comes with BricsCAD
Graebert and Partners makes Ares Commander, DraftSight, CorelCAD
Nanosoft makes NanoCAD
Suzhou Gstarsoft makes GStarCAD
ZWSoft makes ZWCAD
ProgeSoft makes ProgeCAD
CADopia makes CADopia
Advanced Computer Solutions makes Caddie
KnowledgeBase makes AllyCAD
ActCAD Engineering Solutions makes ActCAD
Others are MicroStation by Bentley Systems, VersaCAD by Archway Systems, TurboCAD by IMSI/Design
At JTB World we provide programming services for several of these CAD systems by creating programs using LISP, AutoLISP, Visual LISP, VBA, C# and VB.NET.
What is CAD?
CAD is an acronym for Computer-aided design or computer-aided drafting while CADD is an acronym for Computer Aided Design and Drafting.
CAD Design then is an acronymic pleonasm. This is where an acronym serves as an adjective for a noun already represented by one of the initials in the abbreviation.
