This is the results I found when trying to compare some graphic cards. The tests where performed 2003-feb on a Compaq 2.26GHz, 1024MB RAM, Vsync off, Windows XP. Latest drivers and some older where used and compared. SPECViewperf 7.0 was used and Cadalyst benchmark 2001 for AutoCAD 2002.

  • PNY Quadro4 750 XGL
  • PNY Quadro4 550 XGL
  • PNY Verto GeForce2-MX200
  • Matrox Parhelia 512 (128 MB RAM version)

In AutoCAD the following settings where used except that the Driver were changed:

Here are the results from the tests and I let you draw your own conclusions. I cannot explain details of it but the conclusions I draw are these that try to use the newest possible working driver to get the best performance. I tried software accelerations in the Cadalyst test and I didn't let it go for all but in average it took 4 times longer to finish the test. If you use the Parhelia card you should defenately use their hdi-driver for best performance. When it comes to the PNY cards it doesn't matter much if you use AutoCAD's or Nvidia's driver when it comes to performance in these tests.
