Other DWG CAD based applications

There are a lot of applications that either only use DWG as their file format or that can read and write to DWG in various ways. They are often referred as "AutoCAD clones" even though some have evolved to be much more than copycats.

Bricsys comes with BricsCAD

Graebert and Partners makes Ares Commander, DraftSight, CorelCAD

Nanosoft makes NanoCAD

Suzhou Gstarsoft makes GStarCAD

ZWSoft makes ZWCAD

ProgeSoft makes ProgeCAD

CADopia makes CADopia

Advanced Computer Solutions makes Caddie

KnowledgeBase makes AllyCAD

ActCAD Engineering Solutions makes ActCAD

Others are MicroStation by Bentley Systems, VersaCAD by Archway Systems, TurboCAD by IMSI/Design

At JTB World we provide programming services for several of these CAD systems by creating programs using LISP, AutoLISP, Visual LISP, VBA, C# and VB.NET.

What is CAD?

CAD is an acronym for Computer-aided design or computer-aided drafting while CADD is an acronym for Computer Aided Design and Drafting.

CAD Design then is an acronymic pleonasm. This is where an acronym serves as an adjective for a noun already represented by one of the initials in the abbreviation.
